Outstanding Women of New Brighton: Sarah ”Sally” Patton Kenah
Sally Kenah was a ”people person” who gave her time and talent for the benefit of everyone through her many vocations and civic work. Many people knew her as an elementary school teacher at various schools in the Valley. Her interests in local and notable people were shown in her newspaper column, Personalities, published in the now-defunct News Tribune in Beaver Falls.
She enjoyed new experiences. In her junior year at Wellesley College, Sally studied in France assimilating with its people and their culture. During WWII, she was a Block Leader and also served on the board of the American Cancer Society. She was instrumental in placing the historical marker at White Cottage, located 1217 3rd Avenue in New Brighton, home of Sarah Clarke Lippincott, also known as Grace Greenwood — journalist, author, and abolitionist.
